Mattatuck Trail
Just a few pictures from the Mattatuck Trail south of Mohawk Mountain....in vicinity of Mohawk Pond...
The Mattatuck Trail is an OLD Trail which has been part of the Connecticut 'Blue Blazed' Trail System.
It seems it is gradually being chipped down to a fraction of it's old route. In my opinion this was the best and most beautiful hiking trails in Connecticut..
Unfortunate, many of the best locations are now lost. It had a junction on Mohawk Mountain with the old Appalachian Trail (now Mohawk Trail) and weaved southbound all the ways to the New Haven, Connecticut area.
Click the image below for some maps and one might follow the Trail from Mohawk Mountain to the Litchfield, Connecticut area. Era about 1950.
On an old Appalachian Trail map one might calculate the old route of the trail.(upcoming research)
